About Michael

Michael has been a professional working drummer for many years now and an educator since 1995, both in his private teaching practice and also for Yamaha during a three year period. Currently teaching both privately and at Bollinbrook Primary school in Macclesfield. He has worked extensively from the 1960's through until today, enjoying time with many early semi pro working bands. In the early seventies working as a session drummer for strawberry studios/Graham Gouldman sessions and consequently becoming part of the touring band which became 10cc.

Michael has received extensive tuition from Dave Hassell, an internationally known educator and also Stuart Riley(bassist) examiner at Leeds university Michael has worked professionally with many artistes and bands over the years, recently touring with The Connie Lush Blues band in France and also the American blues guitarist John Morana(Midnight Johnny blues band) Pete Frampton's escape committee/ George Borowskis fabulous wonderfuls/ Lisa Mills from Alabama/ The Tangent / The Carbs/ Steve Plews trio/ The Bill Baileys/Tony Auton Band/ Rod Mayall/ Dougie James Soul Train/ Pete Mclaine and the Clan/ briefly with Diane Shaw - uk soul singer/ Langley All Stars Band/ and many musicians and artistes on the Jazz circuit as a freelance player.

Michaels love of jazz and swing/blues comes from an early appreciation of being surrounded by the music of Brooke Benton/Diana Washington/ Frank Sinatra and all the big bands of post war, and later developing a love of bop music. Michael is an honoury member of Flixton brass band and New Mills Band and has been an active part of his church worship team for many years too.

Michael also has a working home studio and produces his own music and also two album releases in the last four years.

Michaels work also extends into the therapeutic field with special needs and disability working for the last few years as a therapist in music recently for the NHS with referrals from Occupational therapists - Michael also has a counselling qualification.
