Quote from " Music Therapy : An Art beyond Words" - Leslie Bunt

" Music Therapy is the use of sounds and music within an evolving relationship between client and therapist to support and encourage physical, mental, social and emotional well being."

This short film is a collection of clips, of some of my work, I hope by watching it the viewer can gain an understanding of the work of a facilitator/community musician, the type of situations, the technology used and the many different levels of need in the field of special needs and persons with a disability. My name is Michael Gilbourne, I am a mature professional musician, living in New Mills Derbyshire and have worked within this wonderful field since the year 2000, which extends to experience with Dspraxia / Autism / cerbral palsy / epilepsy / rhetts syndrome / huntindons disease / aspergers syndrome and learning difficulties. Please do contact me if you think I may be able to help you.

" An autobiography of a journey of change"

In 2003 I achieved a higher education qualification as a music facilitator, already having over forty years experience as a drummer/percussionist and teacher for twelve years, I followed my gut feeling one day and answered an ad for a young disabled man, requiring a music support helped. I have never looked back since.
